CNL Lifestyle Properties Ski Resorts See Higher Revenues and Skier Visits in 2012-13
Home next-arrow News Releases

(ORLANDO, Fla.) May 1, 2013 — CNL Lifestyle Properties, Inc., a real estate investment trust (REIT), saw a significant increase in revenues at its portfolio of 17 ski resorts during the 2012-13 ski season. As of March 31, revenues at the resorts were up 16 percent over last year. Skier visits rose 10.4 percent as of April 29.

“We have made substantial investments in our resorts to boost snowmaking capacity, add lifts, open up new terrain and enhance base area facilities,” said Steve Rice, senior managing director of CNL Lifestyle Properties’ ski/mountain lifestyle and lodging properties. “We believe these investments, as well as the strong snowfall we’ve had this year, have helped our resorts perform as well as or better than the industry over the past three seasons.”

The investments in new terrain and snowmaking equipment have also helped CNL resorts attract more skiers earlier in the season. As of Dec. 5, 2012, for example, three of the four ski resorts in New England with the largest amount of skiable terrain were CNL Lifestyle Properties’ resorts.

CNL Lifestyle Properties owns the nation’s largest portfolio of ski resorts. Most of the properties are leased back to operators under triple-net leases, with the operators responsible for day-to-day operations of the resorts.
